Story
Five days passed after the long travel which they were subjected dogs, arrived from Italy to South Georgia for partecipate to the River Hush Winter Spectacular Show hosted at the Winter Husk Kennels, owned by the amazing Payna, great breeder holder of the show kennel.
Gaia' s dogs arrived two days before the competitions' s start for give them some extra time for settle, gain strenght back from the long travel done by car anf plane and for have some extra trainings in free time.
The competitions started and so the long week of works was getting over with the 5th and last day of long competitions, where the hosted disciplines were Lure Cursing and Ring Sport.
useless saying Gaia joined all the competitions for pull herself, her dogs and the entire ranch under an harsh try, the competitive girl wanted to finally outcome from the shadows to reveal her skills and a win was going to be appreciated after the long work she was doing with her dogs, now needing to be shown up and occasionally get some titles.
After the presenter called her and her female German Shepherd Dog Rache, Gaia introduced her dog in the ring.
The ring was pretty large, almost an entire field placed in front of the guest' s house.
the fence was risen some days ago, for avoid any younger dog to run away from the competition ground for any reason, maybe attracted by any wild animal there.
The lush grass of winter was covering the free land limitated only by the brief fence making a soft carpet on it, the sun was set high in the sky with some rare and white clouds, since many dogs were shown before and they were one of the last ones, the sun was spreading its light above.
Rache was introduced in, leashed and held by her handler gaia who was the only one handling all her dogs.
She was excited as always, since she was using to be a nervous dog by nature, busy as always to scent any dog' s smell, yet keeping silent and alert, ready to follow the orders once she was set free.
<<Seduta.>> (Sit.) Gaia ordered and the dog obeyed easly.
The tricks were settled on the ground and the wooden Schutzhund decoy was held by Gaia, ready to throw it at the right moment.
She unleashed her, taking off her collar too, waited the hoster' s signal to start.
<<Ferma.>> (Stay.)
She said, placing herself nearby the long jump, fellow by the high jump some feet away the first jump. She kept facing the dog while backing off to the jump, holding an open palm to Rache, telling her to keep her standing, without move.
once Gaia was next to the jump, she lowered the hand fast.
<<Vai!>> (Go!)
She shout out with a firm tone of voice.
The german Shepherd dog stood up in a second, pressuring her paws on the soft grass, she spiinned foward, earning fastness, then getting her handler' s next signal, so went to the jump and with a final spin, she took an amazing bound of 4.7 feet over the jump, landing smootly on the ground, then earning fastness again and getting ready for the second bound, the high one, this time.
She bounded again ove the high wooden obstacle, so this time jumped 5 feet the high bound, without touch the jump, so getting her handler' s order and sitting just after she landed.
She rewarded her with a treat, so let he rplay with the decoy also.
A first chour of handclaps was heard, but the show just began.
Rache was sit again, this time withgaia in front of her, with the palm open again, ready to take another job.
She was holding in her hand the Schutzhund decoy, so she threw it over the German Shepherd Dog.
<<Prendi!>> (Take back!)
Rache stood up and with a bound, she ran after the decoy.
The decoy landed on the ground few feets far from the dog, gaia wasn' t so strong in her arms, but it wasn' t bad.
rache managed to take the decoy without an excess of spin that often is done by too frenetic dogs or young ones, so she grabbed it easly, holding it tight and ran back to the owner, sitting in front of Gaia.
<<Lascia.>> (Leave.)
She said and Rache left the decoy to fall on the ground, keeping her dog' s eyes on her handler, now ready to take any more order.
Another clapping of hands could be heard.
She took the decoy once more, then got ready for throw it again.
<<Prendi!>> (Take back!)
She said and the dog ran after the decoy, but at the moment she was about to take it, she gave another order.
<<Lascia!>> (Leave!)
Rache stopped, sitting by sudden. Gaia stepped next to the dog, so she gave her a reward.
Other hand claps.
<<Guardia.>> (Guard.)
She said, turning a finger to the decoy, the dog took the order and laid back next to the object, then Gaia backed off.
An assistant came next to rache, faking to be a passenger while, instead, knew excatly what to do.
The man started to walk around the dog, then tried to get the decoy she had to guard, without managing to do so, since the tasked dog, started to growl in warning, taking the decoy in her mounth and not letting the man to take it off her yaws, neather after he offered her a treat.
After a while Gaia came.
<<Lascia.>> (Leave.)
She said and the dog left the decoy, so her handler took it.
Another chour of handclaps.
She gave her a treat.
<<Andiamo.>> (Let' s go.)
She ordered for keep the interest alive in her dog, then she made her to sit again, she let her give a sniff to the decoy, so she went to hide it in any blinds, so she gave her the order.
<<Cerca.>> (Find.)
The dog stood up and using her smell, she went arund the blids, not staying too much empity ones, then stopping to the one with the decoy, so she started to bark, advising she found the one wanted.
She went to her dog, so rewarded her once more, so other claps came.
After the decoy work the show was getting to end with the last try: Defense of handler.
This wasn' t going to be a trouble for rache, since she had two trainings for schutzhund and entered already a schutzhund competition, only this time she hadn' t to bite any bait, just keep the agaist away.
Gaia kept standing beside her, rache crouched on the ground.
The same assistant come, this time holding any long wipe or anything that seemd dangerous, so Rache started to raise agaist the man, growling, barking, jumping back and forth in front of gaia, keeping the man away, occasionally stroking him with her paws, pushing him away.
after a while, the assistand backed off, so the host announced the end of Rache' s try.
